CHIWOS Scholar Awards

Call for Applications

The Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort Study (CHIWOS) is pleased to announce this special call for the CHIWOS Scholar Awards with the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN). This unique funding opportunity will support training and mentorship opportunities for emerging academic scholars who are interested in building their capacity in the field of women and HIV. The one-time CHIWOS Scholar Awards are intended as salary support for trainees at the master, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels for the 2020/2021 or 2021/2022 academic year.

 

Who is Eligible?

We invite applications from master, doctoral or postdoctoral trainees who:

1. Are enrolled full time in the 2020/21 or 2021/2022 academic year, or will be enrolled full
time in a graduate-level academic program at a recognized Canadian university, or are
conducting a research project at a recognized Canadian Institution as a Postdoctoral fellow
during that time;
2. Will remain a full-time trainee from September 2020 or later for 12 months;
3. Are focusing on an issue related to women living with HIV in Canada;
4. Will be working with the CHIWOS data;
5. Are linked to a CHIWOS investigator, preferably as their supervisor or on their supervisory
committee.

The CHIWOS Academic Scholar Award program is funded by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Foundation Grant (FDN154325). The application deadline for the 2020/2021, 2021/2022 competition is July 16th, 2020. Details are available online at www.chiwos.ca and www.hivnet.ubc.ca. Please disseminate to interested parties.

Amounts awarded for scholarships:
$55,000 – Post-doctoral level
$21,500 – Doctoral level
$17,500 – Master’s level

An additional travel allowance of up to $2,000 will be available for travel costs associated with attending the Annual CAHR Conference in Spring 2021.
