International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia events

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex people, and all of those with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. It is honoured on May 17th every year. Learn more.

This year’s theme, No one left behind: equality, freedom and justice for all” was decided through extensive consultations with LGBTQIA+ organisations from around the world. This theme will allow for advocacy and celebrations in many forms – be it from human rights defenders, LGBTQIA+ civil society groups, millions of people in our communities, and our allies. The National Rainbow Week of Action, led by the Society of Queer Momentum in partnership with Fierté Canada Pride and the Enchanté Network, and powered by local advocates and organizations across Canada, brings together 2SLGBTQIA+ advocates and allies from the country speaking up for a more free, equal and socially just future — for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and everyone in Canada.
