Manitoba Community Event-Based STBBI Testing Toolkit

Testing approaches for different sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) have been changing in recent years as new and innovative testing interventions are regularly being developed and introduced.

On this page, we highlight one of these innovative approaches: community-event-based testing. We will look at this through the Manitoba Community Event-Based Testing Toolkit.

The Toolkit can be used to plan any sized event, to bring STBBI testing to community events. The team has seen the effectiveness of doing testing in the community and have drawn on the experience and input of community-based event organizers, healthcare providers, and most importantly, the groups of participants who have planned, attended, and gotten tested at these events to put together this guide.

We asked Laurie Ringaert, MB HIV STBBI Collective Impact Network Co-Strategic Facilitator, MB REACH Coordinator, and the MB Community Event-Based Testing Toolkit Pilot Project Manager, to provide more insights into the Toolkit.
