Check It Out – New Website and Initiative: The Positive Effect

A new website and initiative called The Positive Effect, jointly sponsored by the CIHR Centre for REACH 3.0 and the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR), has now launched at www.positiveeffect.org/.

The Positive Effect site and initiative showcases and highlight stories, experiences, and reflections of people living with HIV, as well as those who work with and support people living with HIV. By sharing these stories and lived experiences, the Positive Effect works to bring understanding and a different perspective for people when thinking about HIV. The Positive Effect hopes that in changing people’s thinking around HIV, we can fight HIV-related stigma and its impacts on prevention, testing and access to care for HIV.

The colourful, dynamic site features stories (both written and video format) of people with lived experience of HIV, as well as others in the community that work with and support people living with HIV. The site also houses a blog, with posts on many different topics related to stigma. The BC People Living with HIV Stigma Index study team wrote a post highlighting the Deliberative Dialogue hosted in November 2019 and how this is influencing our work. This blog post includes information about the focuses and goals of the day and the “Big Ideas” that came out of the Deliberative Dialogue. Information about stigma, testing, and access to care is also available through The Positive Effect.

Visit The Positive Effect to check out stories, blog posts, and to learn more about the fight against HIV-related stigma, testing, and care and prevention for HIV!
