Injection Drug Use and the Interacting Epidemics of Substance Use and HIV

The President’s Dream Colloquium on HIV: From Cell to Society is a high-profile lecture series hosted by Simon Fraser University. It is paired with a course, open to university students and community members, about a variety of topics in HIV spanning from the sciences, to the social, and the community.

This free public lecture series, led by Dr. Robert Hogg, has been an incredible opportunity to discuss various factors related to HIV, ranging from the criminalization of HIV non-disclosure to current vaccine research. Please visit www.sfu.ca/pdc for more information.

The final lecture in the series will be delivered by Dr. Hansel Tookes on “Injection Drug Use and the Interacting Epidemics of Substance Use and HIV”, with a community-facilitated discussion followed by an art exhibit and reception. The art exhibit will feature pieces by John Ferrie, Hope in Shadows, Karen Irving of Gallery Gachet, the Dr. Peter Centre, and photovoice projects by Dr. Danya Fast and Dr. Surita Parashar.
