Job Posting: Support Services Manager, Positive Living North

37.5 Hours per Week, $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

Positive Living North (PLN) is an Aboriginal, community-based organization providing care, support and advocacy for people living with, vulnerable to, and affected by HIV/AIDS/HCV. We are looking to interview exceptional candidates who are committed to ongoing personal and professional growth who are interested in a position as a full-time Support Services Manager. Working as part of the PLN management team, the Support Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operation, management and staffing supervision of the Support Services department. Candidate Profile

PLN seeks a team player with healthy personal characteristics who is passionate about supporting our vision, mission and values to assist all people in gaining full access to the Determinants of Health. We seek a dynamic individual who can compassionately, comfortably and confidentially work in an environment that respects diversity and has the ability to deal non-judgmentally with issues of addictions, poverty, homelessness, and the legacy of the colonization of Aboriginal people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a field of study relevant to community and program development or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • Exceptional knowledge related to HIV/AIDS and HCV, understands the complexities of working with diverse populations, and has a thorough appreciation and knowledge of Aboriginal history and culture and the effects of colonization
  • Experience and understanding of loss, grief and the impact of multi-generational trauma
  • Understanding of social welfare policies which impact the populations we provide services for
  • Experience with staff supervision and working at a managerial level
  • Experience facilitating group processes and meetings
  • Experience with strategies around support and advocacy for marginalized populations
  • Understanding of community development needs and the ability to create networks and partnerships
  • Ability to work from, and lead staff in, a risk/harm reduction perspective
  • Possess personal characteristics that will contribute to a healthy, dynamic team
  • Be self motivated, have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and have exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Maintain a Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation

 

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport with and support PLN members in a non-judgmental and non-exploitative way
  • Supervise and support all department staff in fulfilling their responsibilities
  • Lead the completion of all relevant funding proposals and reports to a variety of funders
  • Maintain accurate budgets and ensure financial sustainability of the program
  • Assess needs for support structures for those affected by HIV/AIDS and develop and implement plans to meet identified needs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community stakeholders and sit on relevant joint committees
  • Liaise with community stakeholders, primary health care, and community social support agencies
  • Conduct intakes and develop, manage and maintain individual case files
  • Ensure ongoing evaluation of project
  • Be familiar with and adhere to PLN’s vision statement, policies and procedures
  • Complete all other related duties as required by the Executive Director
