YouthCO is looking for an Outreach Lead for the Mpowerment program

YouthCO reduces the impact of HIV and Hep C on the youth of British Columbia through peer support, education and meaningful community engagement. We strive to foster inclusive communities where youth empower youth to make informed decision about our own well-being and works to end the stigma surrounding HIV and Hep C.

Mpowerment

Mpowerment is a trans-inclusive and gender-affirming program by and for young men and gender diverse folks who are gay, bi, Two-Spirit, or queer. Our programming includes masc of centre folks and guys who are trans, intersex, Two-Spirit, non-binary, and cis, and gender diverse people. Mpowerment is an HIV leadership program led by peers. We facilitate events that aim to foster and encourage HIV leadership and wellbeing. At its core, Mpowerment focuses on building healthy relationships among guys living in the Fraser region, and creating social networks that are knowledgeable about, and empowered to put into practice, strategies for sexual health and wellness. As an organization that is sex-positive, we welcome and celebrate a broad approach to sexual health, and see ourselves as peers, not profs, in these conversations.

Mpowerment is a community-based, peer run program that is innovative and evolving, and strives to respond to real-time needs identified by young people living in the communities where Mpowerment takes place. Grounded in YouthCO’s practice of anti-oppression, Mpowerment provides spaces for young men and gender diverse folks who are gay, bi, Two-Spirit, or queer to connect with each other and build leadership skills.
