Webinar: Findings from a Scoping Review of Barriers and Facilitators for HIV Screening and Testing

Date: Thursday December 7, 10 AM PT

HIV can be manageable with early diagnosis and treatment. HIV screening and testing is the first step in identifying those who are undiagnosed, in order to facilitate linkage to care and receipt of appropriate treatment. In Canada, approximately 21% of people living with HIV at the end of 2014, were unaware of their infection. This may be partially due to barriers to HIV testing. Patients may experience barriers to request an HIV test, while healthcare providers may encounter barriers that may hinder the offer of an HIV test.

In this webinar, Karen Timmerman and Shalane Ha will be presenting on the findings of a scoping review of barriers and facilitators to HIV screening and testing. These findings will be useful for current and future HIV prevention programs with the aims to reduce the stigma around HIV testing and to encourage HIV testing as a part of routine care.
