As you are aware, Yúusnewas empowers youth to be leaders in our communities. At our youth retreat ‘First Directions: Reclaiming our Bodies’, we gave youth the tools to produce films that create meaningful change. At First Directions this year, youth created three heart-felt short films focused on decolonizing our sexuality, culture, substance use, and mental health.
We want to celebrate the hard work these youth have done to make creative and meaningful films, and bring together our community of supporters who make our work possible. We are holding a “First Directions Video Launch”, where we will showcase the films over refreshments on us. This is a great opportunity to hear about our program, network with partnering community members, and see the results of Indigenous youth leadership! You are more than welcome to bring anyone you think would be interested in coming.
