Invitation to Community-University Engagement Dialogues

What’s your vision for community – university engagement? BC’s Community Engagement team is pleased to invite you and people in your network to attend one, two or three dialogues in a short series of dialogues over a nourishing meal hosted at different sites by UBC’s Community Engagement Office. A diverse “Innovation Team” of around 20 graduate and undergraduate students, community members, faculty and staff has designed a series of three dialogues on aspects of community – university engagement. Space is limited; RSVP by the dates indicated. The themes, dates and locations are:

“Community-engaged learning: What’s your experience?”
Thursday, June 15, 3:00 – 5:00 pm, Dodson Room, IK Barber Learning Centre. Supper included.
RSVP by June 13 at 4 pm.

“Community-engaged research: Knowledge for a complicated world”
Tuesday, June 20, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, UBC Robson Square. Supper included.
RSVP by June 16 at 4 pm.

“Our neighbourhoods: Places to learn, work, play and live together”
(provisional title; date and venue TBD)

In addition to generating creative ideas in facilitated dialogues over a meal, you will have the opportunity to meet and network with diverse students (graduate and undergraduate), community members, staff and faculty. Student note-takers will capture ideas while respecting the anonymity of participants.

Each session will include an opportunity for critical reflection on the dialogue process. Your insights will be shared with decision-makers in the University’s strategic planning process. A summary of the dialogue themes will be posted on the Community Engagement website.
