VPWAS – Registration is now open for Youth Unleashing Power 2017!

Last June, 15 youth travelled from across Canada to co-create a national symposium for HIV and hepatitis-C positive youth, the first of its kind. Developed by a national steering committee of positive youth, the weekend featured presentations on disclosure, sexuality, technology, story-telling, and spirituality. Seeking a strong emphasis on self care, participants were treated to complementary massages, acupuncture, nature walks, and art making. During a sharing circle on the last day, all of the participants indicated a desire to become involved in shaping the next year of the symposium, identifying that an extra day together would make a significant impact.

This year, the symposium will take place over 5 nights and 4 days, and participants will gather on the shores of Lake Cowichan. Our aim is to bring together a diverse group of 25 youth from across the country. The week will focus on knowledge transfer, national organizing, and strategies for self care. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with presentations by their peers and also to explore the beautiful west coast wilderness.

Here’s how you can get involved:  donate directly to the program – support or sponsor a positive youth in your community attend – help spread the word about #YUP to your networks  – attend our fundraising events.

Registration is now open! HIV and hepatitis-C positive youth aged 18-32 who are full time residents of Canada are invited to attend. There is no cost to attend, however, participants are responsible for their travel costs. Limited travel bursaries may be available.  Register here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2910366
