Event: WCPAS, also known as “Camp MOOMBA”, is proud to announce its FIRST ANNUAL CELEBRATION AND FUNDRAISING NIGHT!

Moomba inviteThe event will take place at the Creekside Community Recreation Centre on September 4th, from 7 to 11 pm. For 60 $/person (or 100$ for 2), guests will enjoy an evening of tasty food and drinks, music and shows, as well as a silent auction and stunning views of False Creek!

WCPAS, a Vancouver based, registered non-profit organization, has provided Camp Moomba every summer since 1998, bringing over 100 children and adolescents affected by HIV from across Canada to beautiful waterfront sites in BC. At Camp Moomba they have made long-lasting friendships and enjoyed the freedom of “just being kids” in a safe and stigma-free environment. Camp Moomba is a life-changing summer camp experience where children infected or affected by HIV from across the country meet and develop personal skills that help them address the challenges of therapy, discrimination, isolation and poverty.

WCPAS is committed to respond to their most precious wish, which is to come back to Camp Moomba year after year! WCPAS also provides other activities year-round in BC (the sleepover at the Vancouver Aquarium was a big hit this spring). These local programs help the younger age group and their parents engage in the “Moomba family” early on. Even though very few children are born with HIV in our country these days (thanks to the success of prevention of perinatal transmission), many children continue to be affected by HIV through their family or because they were born in an endemic country.

Our hope is to expand Camp Moomba to include greater participation from Eastern provinces, and build on the success of the camp to establish a social network that will provide support to the children throughout the year.

By attending this event you will help WCPAS make these plans come true. Help us make this night a memorable one! Buy your ticket online!
