Hepatitis C Basics Course with CATIE and BC Hepatitis Network

Are you a service provider who works with people who are disproportionately impacted by hepatitis C? Then this course is for you! The purpose of the course is to deliver foundational hepatitis C knowledge for service providers, including context about the current landscape of hepatitis C in Canada, how transmission happens, the impact of infection on the body, how to prevent hepatitis C transmission, the benefits of early diagnosis and the tests required, how treatment works and considerations after completion of treatment.

This course includes approximately four-five hours of online instruction delivered over four weeks. It includes weekly self-directed modules, collaborative discussion boards co-facilitated by a CATIE educator and a BC Hepatitis Network educator, and an interactive online meeting with our educators and fellow students.

 

Weekly topic breakdown

Hepatitis C Basics includes four online modules that include a variety of learning activities such as e-learning units, readings, discussion board assignments, videos and webinars. You can work through each weekly online module at your own pace. Each module takes up to 1 hour to complete.  An online meeting is held on the fourth week to conclude the course.

Week 1: Introduction to hepatitis C

Week 2: Hepatitis C transmission and prevention

Week 3: Hepatitis C testing

Week 4: Hepatitis C treatment

Timing

The online modules are available from May 27th, allowing four weeks for online learning to be completed before our June 19th meeting.
