Job Posting: Sexual and Reproductive Health Project Coordinator

Position Purpose

The role of Sexual Reproductive Health Project Coordinator is to develop, coordinate, facilitate, and support African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) community and national initiatives to promote access to Sexual Reproductive Health services for ACB people to improve health outcomes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate Sexual Reproductive Health activities in Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Ontario
• Complete project deliverables in collaboration with Sexual Reproductive Health National Coordinator
• Design and deliver educational programs, workshops consultations for ACB communities in Alberta
• Developing and maintaining relationships with Community Health Centers, Newcomer Centers and other Sexual Reproductive Health Services Providers serving ACB people in each region.
• Delivering Sexual reproductive health support and prevention activities in ACB communities
• Collaborating with CHABAC Hub coordinators in Toronto, Winnipeg and Surrey
• Conduct literature review research on Sexual Reproductive Health
• Contribute to Health Canada reporting expectations
• Meet with agencies serving ACB communities and ACB community organizers to build relationships, plan educational initiatives, and learn how Sexual Reproductive Health impact their communities
• Facilitate knowledge mobilization presentations for service providers who work with ACB communities and for ACB community members
• Coordinate workshops for service providers and community members to celebrate Black History Month
• Work with community advisors and facilitate community consultations to guide Sexual Reproductive Health work with ACB communities
• Attend and provide educational outreach at ACB community events and in places where ACB community members naturally gather
• Coordinate intensive partnerships with ACB-serving agencies to build their capacity to address Sexual Reproductive Health issues prevention within their work and to create knowledge mobilization initiatives that are relevant to the communities they serve
• Create new and adapt existing educational materials for use with ACB community members and those who serve them
• Provide advocacy and build relationships within ACB communities by participating in roundtables, alliances, cross-sectoral networks, and stakeholder engagement

 

General and Administrative Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to CHABAC’s mission, values, and principles
• Adhere to the agency’s policies and procedures
• Report activities and contribute program-specific information to quarterly, annual, and final reporting
• Implement Health Canada’s evaluation/performance measure, as relevant to project activities
• Attend, participate in, and lead agency and program staff/team meetings and circles, as required
• Attend and participate in scheduled supervision meetings with the Sexual Reproductive Health National Coordinator
• Participate in annual accountability reviews
• Perform other duties as required

 

Working Conditions

• Position requirements: 35 hours/ week
• Working hours: Regular hours

8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Thursday
8:30 am to 2:00 pm Friday

• The position will be a hybrid working arrangement for someone located in the Metro Vancouver area (home office plus community meetings and program delivery). The team working on project implementation will be collaborating virtually.
• This position requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
• Some travel may be required to surrounding communities, national for CHABAC or WHIWH in person meetings and international conferences

 

Qualifications

• Degree or Masters Degree in human services or related field (education, social work, counseling, community engagement, public health, Indigenous studies, settlement studies, etc.), or equivalent experience
• Experience in program coordination and evaluation
• Experience providing education workshops and group facilitation
• Experience working with African, Caribbean, and Black community members, or lived experience
• Relationship building, strong verbal and written skills, focus on best and strength-based practices, a desire to connect with community to engage people about Sexual Reproductive Health and a strong ability to generate positive opportunities are all essential to making this position meaningful
• Competency in computer software/databases including Access, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Zoom is preferred
• Access to a vehicle is an asset

The successful candidate will be working jointly with Afro-Canadian Positive Network of BC (ACPNetBC) and the Canadian HIV/AIDS Black, African and Caribbean Network (CHABAC) to implement a project focused on improving sexual and reproductive health and access to SRH services for African, Caribbean and Black communities in BC. The position begins immediately, and includes a salary of $50,000 plus benefits.
