The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS), are undertaking advocacy on the current overdose crisis in Canada.

This also includes a petition that will be presented to the House of Commons if it reaches 500 signatures. You can find the petition here which is currently gathering signatures until mid-July.

They are also launching a media campaign across various social media platforms the week of April 10-14 to spread  awareness on the overdose crisis. This topic is on the forefront of everyone’s minds. The CFMS recently produced a position paper on the Overdose Crisis. This was also part of the topic at their most recent National Day of Action.

As part of this media campaign, they will be releasing social media posts across all their platforms (TwitterFacebookInstagram.)

This will include a profile series to highlight the work done by stakeholders across Canada, as well as an open letter to all Members of Parliament asking for support of federal decriminalization of substances, a national safer supply strategy, and an equitable framework that ensures all jurisdictions and communities receive appropriate funding and support from the government to respond to the overdose crisis.
