National Women and HIV Workshop Series

via CHIWOS:

Background:  The Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort Study (CHIWOS) is celebrating 10 years of research and advocacy by, with, and for women living with HIV across Canada!

CHIWOS is a national, longitudinal, community-based study with team members committed to creating and using new knowledge to support self-identified women living with HIV (including cis and trans women, and Two Spirit and non-binary people) in Canada to achieve optimal health and wellbeing. Since 2011, CHIWOS has involved hundreds of community members, partners, and collaborators across Canada; and it has led to new studies, projects, and initiatives related to women and HIV.

Purpose: To celebrate 10 years, CHIWOS is hosting the National Women and HIV Virtual Workshop Series to engage and expand our knowledge sharing network, invite discussion, identify gaps, and develop goal statements and collective actions that will improve the health, healthcare, and wellbeing of women living with HIV in Canada.

Vision:  We envision a four-part virtual workshop series where community members, clinicians, academics, partner organizations, and decision makers come together to discuss how the field of women and HIV can evolve using community-based research to improve the health and healthcare of women living with HIV. This workshop series will highlight the diversity of voices, histories, and leadership of women living with HIV across Canada.

Target Audience: We invite community members, clinicians, service providers, researchers, students, trainees, policy makers, funders, and people living with or affected by HIV who have living experience or experience working in the field of Women and HIV to participate.

The workshop will be simultaneously available in English and French.

When: There are four workshops in this series that will take place over five weeks in November and December 2021 at 11 AM-1:30 PM Pacific time.

  • Thursday, November 4
  • Thursday, November 18
  • Thursday, November 25
  • Thursday, December 2– in honour of World AIDS Day
