Join us November 13 for a “Knit-In” supporting the local Red Scarf HIV/AIDS Awareness Initiative
What is the Red Scarf Campaign? Red Scarf is a movement bringing community together to raise real awareness and knowledge about the positive advances in HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention. Red Scarf stands against stigma to improve the lives of those living with, affected by and at risk for HIV/AIDS in our community.
Since 2012, volunteers have hand-crafted over 10,000 red scarves. Like the red ribbon, every Red scarf is a symbol of awareness and support.
Next Wednesday, November 13th from 1:30 PM – 3 PM The Vancouver Island Regional Library in Courtenay, Glacier Grannies and AVI will be hosting a “Knit-In” in support of the Red Scarf campaign.
October Knit-In event
Knitters will be gathered in the front area of the library in comfy chairs in front of the fireplace and we invite everyone to join us, either to show you support or join in with our knitters.
- Red wool and needles will be provided.
- Help with “casting-on and casting-off” will also be available.
- AVI educators will be there to provide information about the Red Scarf campaign and advances in HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
Event takes place Wednesday, November 13th from 1:30 PM – 3 PM at the Vancouver Island Regional Library – Courtenay Branch, 300 6th Street.
Don’t forget to show your support and wear a Red Scarf for World AIDS Day on December 1st, 2019.
