Universities Without Walls (UWW) invites you to our 7th online seminar, Investigating Intersections between Mental Health, Hep C, HIV, and STBBIs.

This seminar will be led by Dr. Oralia Gomez-Ramirez, sociocultural anthropologist, qualitative health researcher, and early career evaluator. Oralia completed a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and is now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the CIHR-funded GetCheckedOnline Implementation Science Team (FRN #CTW-155387) at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control.
This online seminar will provide an introduction to the analytical concept of “intersections” and its application in the field of public health and research, specifically in the research and design of HIV, STIs, Hep C, and mental health interventions.
Learning Objectives:
- Help participants recognize the origins of the concept of “intersectionality” within feminist thought
- Relate the notion of intersectionality to the research and design of HIV and STBBI interventions
- Reflect on applications of the intersectionality lens your research and/or professional practice
