Position: Stride with Purpose Coordinator

Wage:     Based on Experience

Location: 40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, BC

Hours:   1 FTE, Mon – Fri business hours, evening and weekends as required.  35 hours per week.

Start Date:  March, 2019

Stride with Purpose provides supports and services for people living with or at-risk for HIV, HCV and/or substance use, under a community health model.  Services include 1-on-1 case management, outreach, housing stabilization, peer-involved programming, provision of basic needs, distribution of harm reduction materials, resourcing and referrals, advocacy, education, and life skills training.

The Stride Coordinator directly supervises and oversees the work of a team of 8 fte.  The Coordinator ensures that staff are properly supported and that tasks are accomplished in accordance with policy.  Services are provided under a harm reduction framework, and with the input and participation of people with lived/living experience.

Core Duties:

  • Plan and coordinate program activities to ensure services are being provided as specified.
  • Direct and supervise the day-to-day actions of team members, to ensure that duties are being carried out as specified.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of agency policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to support and develop the core work of the Stride team.
  • Plan and organize the collection of data related to monitoring and evaluation obligations, as required by Purpose Society and external funders.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for funding, including the preparation of grant submissions.
  • Lead and engage in strategic planning and visioning for the Stride program.
  • Identify and provide opportunities for staff development, capacity building, and training.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Maintain strong knowledge on core competencies and diversified models of care for targeted populations.
  • Lead efforts to collect, transport and organize food stuffs for the weekly food bank.
  • Attend and provide representation at relevant meetings, labs, and conferences with a direct focus on HIV, HCV, sexual health, drug use, mental health, poverty, and stigma issues.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • A 4 year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Work, Human Services, Health Sciences, or other related programs.
  • 2 years’ experience providing direct supervision to a team of client-facing staff
  • Experience providing services for at-risk and/or marginalized populations.
  • Enthusiasm for facilitating frontline services
  • A passion for health equity and wellness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization is an asset.
  • Ability to function effectively in difficult and/or crisis situations is required.
  • Knowledge of local resources is an asset.
  • Clear criminal records check.
