HIV in Canada: Surveillance highlights from 2017

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a global public health issue with an estimated 1.8 million people newly infected in 2017. The Public Health Agency of Canada monitors newly diagnosed cases of HIV through a national HIV Surveillance System, in partnership with all Canadian provinces and territories. This webinar will highlight key findings from the forthcoming publication HIV in Canada: Surveillance Report, 2017. Surveillance data from 2017 will be presented by geographic location, sex, age group, exposure category and race/ethnicity.

Canadian Perspectives on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections

The Public Health Agency of Canada has invited EKOS Research to present the findings of its recent public opinion research on Canadian awareness, knowledge and attitudes with respect to sexually transmitted diseases and blood-borne infections. The presentation will discuss the major findings of the research, including: public awareness of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV and hepatitis C (e.g., prevention risk factors, transmission, treatment, linkage to care, etc.); perceptions of risk in acquiring Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), HIV, and hepatitis C; and, understanding public attitudes towards and barriers to testing for STIs, HIV, and hepatitis C. The presentation will be delivered by Will Daley, Vice President, EKOS Research.
