Gay and bisexual men’s HIV research tends to focus on men living in and around metropolitan regions, ignoring the lives of men living across the entire province. This session will provide an example of a project involving gay and bisexual conducted in an under-researched region of Ontario, and talk about future research endeavours.

Learning Objectives

  1. To promote an understanding of why a heterogeneous approach to HIV research with gay and bisexual men, and other populations, is warranted.
  2. To describe and discuss strategies for promoting and conducting HIV research in under-research regions.
  3. To outline the benefits and challenges of conducting original research as a graduate student
  4. Using a project proposal case study, to discuss future research endeavours that would require a broader approach to gay and bisexual men’s HIV prevention.
