As part of awareness events around World AIDS Day and during Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week, we hosted a free online webinar featuring presenters from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
This STBBI surveillance update highlighted the most recent results and trends concerning HIV, hepatitis C and syphilis, and how you can keep track with the latest on the CPS STIBBI and TB dashboard.
Speakers
Teddy Consolacion (they/she) is a senior scientist in Clinical Prevention Services at BC Centre for Disease Control. With a Ph.D. in social psychology, they have worked in different public health agencies in Canada and the US for over 15 years. Their interests include research on the intersectionality of identities, cultural appropriate health services and downstream health outcomes.
Rob Higgins is an epidemiologist with the Clinical Prevention Services division of the BCCDC focused on syphilis, HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia. With a MSc in the social dimensions of health, he has worked at various health improvement networks in BC, community organizations and has a research background in queer men’s health and health policy.
Victor Lei is currently an epidemiologist at BCCDC working on Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Mpox, and CJD surveillance. Prior to this he was a data analyst and helped develop several of the BCCDC COVID surveillance dashboards. He has a keen interest in coding and dashboard development and making data accessible and understandable in general. He hails from the far East (of Vancouver) and currently lives in Richmond, BC.
