The PAN team would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to complete PAN’s 2026 Communications Survey. The response rate and depth of feedback we received were incredibly encouraging and reflect a highly engaged community that cares deeply about staying informed, connected, and involved in the work happening across the province.
What We Heard:
Overall, the survey confirmed that PAN’s weekly ENews continues to be a valued and effective communication tool. Most respondents reported engaging with the ENews on a weekly basis (thank you!), and the majority indicated they would like the ENews to continue being distributed weekly. Satisfaction levels were also high, with close to 90% of respondents reporting they were either “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the ENews overall. Many participants shared thoughtful comments expressing appreciation for the ENews’ accessible format, timely updates, funding opportunities, and role in helping people feel informed and connected. The survey also provided important insight into the types of content our members and community partners value most. Public health and social policy updates, harm reduction and substance use content, member and community updates, and peer work emerged as top priorities. Respondents also highlighted interest in funding opportunities, paid studies, education and training, and professional development opportunities. These findings will help guide PAN’s communications moving forward and ensure our content continues to reflect the priorities and realities of the communities we serve.
In addition to affirming what is working well, the survey identified areas where PAN can continue to grow and evolve both our communications and programming overall. Participants emphasized the importance of expanding engagement opportunities outside of the Lower Mainland, increasing in-person and face-to-face connections, and exploring more accessible and dynamic forms of communication such as short videos, webinars, podcasts, and peer-created content. Others encouraged PAN to continue strengthening representation, inclusion, and stakeholder engagement across its work.
What We’re Doing:
Based on evaluation feedback, PAN will be shifting our communications focus toward approaches that better reflect where our communities are engaging and connecting today. PAN will be closing our X (Twitter) account and redirecting our energy toward strengthening the ENews, exploring more accessible multimedia content, and building engagement through platforms and methods that community members identified as more meaningful and relevant.
We are grateful for the encouragement, and constructive feedback shared throughout this process. The survey responses demonstrate not only the value of PAN’s communications, but also the strength, insight, and care within our membership and broader community. Your feedback will directly shapes how we communicate, connect, and share information moving forward, and we thank everyone who contributed their time and perspectives.
