YouthCO is an organization of young leaders who represent youth (aged 13-29) affected by HIV and Hep C. We work towards creating a world where youth empower youth to make informed decisions about their own well-being and work together to put an end to the stigma surrounding HIV and Hep C. Our programs reduce the vulnerability to, and minimize the impact of, HIV and Hep C on British Columbia’s youth through peer support and education, harm reduction, shared leadership and meaningful community engagement. As an organization YouthCO works to be youth-driven, inclusive, sex-positive, anti-oppressive and innovative in our programming.

Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Director leads an overall team of eight staff, with three direct reports.
- In collaboration with the Board develop a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
- Provide leadership and advocate on critical issues affecting youth living with or affected by HIV or Hep C
- Liaise with other community agencies, funders and community stakeholders Represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization’s profile
- Foster effective team work between the Board and Executive Director and between the Executive Director and staff
- In collaboration with the Operations Director, oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
- In collaboration with the Program Director, oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services
- Determine staffing requirements for organizational operations and program delivery and oversee recruitment and hiring processes
- Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
- Foster a culture of learning, including your own professional development
- Work with staff and Board to prepare a comprehensive annual operating budget
- Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor cash flow
- Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures
- Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
- Secure adequate funding for operations and program delivery through government grants, corporate and individual donations, and other fundraising activities
