Substance Use: Humility, Respect, Connection and Love – new resources

Courtesy of the Indigenous Knowledge Translation Team, Chee Mamuk Indigenous Health Program

The Indigenous Knowledge Translation Working Group (IKTWG) proudly shares our latest resources that are for family members, friends and loved ones who are struggling with their relationship with alcohol and/or substances. The intent of these posters is to bring attention to our Indigenous way of how we look after one another and offers pathways forward together through connection to land, community and culture.

After hearing from many Indigenous community members,  the Indigenous partners of the IKTWG  (First Nations Health Authority, Metis Nation BC and the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centers) and from members of the BCCDC Harm Reduction’s Peer Engagement and Evaluation Project (PEEP), the members of the IKTWG developed the  following campaign titled: Substance Use: Humility, Respect, Connection and Love

Below are the names of each resource:

  1. We are all in this together
  2. We are all people
  3. Support saves lives
  4. We each have our own journey
  5. Community saves lives
  6. Find your community
  7. Setbacks happen

Our other resources can be found here: http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/prevention-public-health/indigenous-health-resources

We hope you find these resources of some use, and if they are, we humbly ask you to share them with your networks.
