Let’s Make a Difference Together! Recruiting students for research

Updated January 30, 2025

On behalf of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA)

CPHA is currently recruiting medicine, nursing, and social work students for a study to evaluate our evidence-based course that aims to improve care in sexual health. It’s a chance for us, with your support, to lead the way in making healthcare more inclusive and understanding around sexual health, substance use and STBBIs.

Why It Matters: Stigma, in all its forms (internalized, systemic, by association) is a big hurdle in sexual health care. Our course, crafted by experts and with real-life stories, has already reached hundreds. Now, we’re taking the next step, evaluating its impact with a study supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

How You Can Help: Students, professors, program administrators, and advocates, your role is crucial! Please share this opportunity with students and others in your network that can help reach eligible students from now until February 23, 2025. It’s hassle-free: we provide the recruitment poster (see attached), and there’s no need for you to track who is interested. Students simply sign up using the link on the poster and we will take care of the rest. Are you able to support? Please fill in this brief form to indicate where you can share information about the study to help us track our recruitment efforts and minimize cross-posting. It also provides more details about the eligibility criteria for student participants.

What You Need to Know: We’re looking for students in nursing, medicine, and social work, especially those in clinical years. They’ll be part of something big, helping shape the future of sexual health care. This study has been approved by a University of Toronto Research Ethics Board (protocol #00046315). More detailed information about the study is available on the attached poster and at the sign up link.
