On October 9th we are hosting a 3-part virtual event to help you strengthen your organization’s roots and growth. Three related sessions will help your team examine your organizational health, centre people with lived and living experiences, and strengthen your community connections.
The day will begin with an interactive workshop on Nonprofit Lifecycles with Kylie Hutchinson. This simple but powerful framework offers a straightforward approach for determining the current stage of growth of your organization. It provides a rapid method for diagnosing your most critical capacity-building needs in five key areas of operations given your stage of growth, and ways to help you move forward. In this fun and interactive session, you will learn how to use the Nonprofit Lifecycles framework to diagnose your specific lifecycle stage and prioritize your most pressing capacity-building needs. Kylie works in the not-for-profit sector as a consultant, trainer, program manager, board member, and volunteer. She works to support non-profits evaluate, assess, and shape their work in actionable ways.
Session two will focus on building equitable practices to centre people with lived and living experiences (PWLLE) at all levels of your organization. PAN has worked with Collective Impact Network members to develop two new resources to strengthen community connections and understanding of intersecting communities; developing programming; and policy development. PAN’s Evin Jones will discuss the vision of shared leadership; Simon Goff and Monte Strong will speak about the process of the resource development and voices of PWLLE.
Session three will be a conversation-style story about community-responsive transition and change. AVI Health and Community Services has grown from their original location in Victoria to include sites in multiple communities on Vancouver Island with unique profiles. The conversation will delve into ways of working in different communities, adapting to ongoing political and social change, and how to support people in doing the work.
