CANOC – Now Accepting Applications for 2017-18 Community Investigator Positions

The Canadian HIV Observational Cohort (CANOC) Collaborative Research Centre is now accepting applications for 2017-2018 CANOC Community Investigator positions. I was hoping that you might be able to support us in promoting this opportunity either through your newsletter, website, or twitter. Here is a brief description of the opportunity:

The Canadian HIV Observational Cohort (CANOC) Collaborative Research Centre examines the impact of HIV health services and treatment programs on the health and wellbeing of persons living with HIV across Canada. This is Canada’s largest multi-province research initiative to examine the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) across Canadian populations.

The CANOC database allows for the analysis of non-identifying information collected from study participants who are receiving ART at locations in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland. The purpose of the study is to answer questions that will better inform HIV policy and delivery of care in Canada. Please visit www.canoc.ca for more information.

CANOC is currently seeking qualified individuals to join the team as Community Investigators. The CANOC Community Investigators will meet with a CANOC Principal Investigator throughout the year, participate in the CANOC Knowledge Translation and Mentorship Working Group and Steering Committee teleconferences, and complete a CANOC research project. CANOC will facilitate a matching between Community Investigators and CANOC Scholars in order to provide support for a project that aligns with their goals and interests.

Community Investigators will be expected to commit approximately 200 hours throughout their tenure, during which they will be compensated a total of $5000 plus travel expenses. Program tenure is one year, with possibility of renewal.

The application deadline for the programs is April 1, 2017. Details are available at www.canoc.ca/training/. Please direct questions to Karyn Gabler at [email protected].
