PAN’s Annual General Meeting took place on October 19, 2026 and began with a keynote panel followed by the business meeting. The recurring theme across both parts was that lived experience is not a limitation but a leadership asset, and that PAN’s strength lies in its networked, relationship-based, and culturally grounded approach during an increasingly uncertain funding and policy environment.
PART 1 “Leading Through Experience: Stories of Resilience, Growth, and Empowerment”
The keynote panel of four women highlighted how lived and living experience can become a powerful source of leadership, advocacy, and hope. Flo shared her journey from HIV-related stigma, addiction, and incarceration to healing through Indigenous ceremony and peer mentorship. Hadiza described how peer support helped her navigate Canada’s healthcare system as a newcomer and inspired her to advocate for immigrants facing language and cultural barriers. Pam reflected on overcoming homelessness, incarceration, and addiction to become a leader amplifying marginalized voices. Grace recounted 32 years of living with HIV, transforming stigma into education and community building. Together, the panel emphasized resilience, self-acceptance, peer support, and turning personal struggles into purpose.
PART 2 Business Meeting
The formal AGM business meeting covered reflections on the work of the last year, tributes to outgoing executive director Evin Jones and the transition to a co-ED model. it confirmed financial health, elected a full board slate, and welcomed Same Sky Collective Society as a new member.
