Leading Through Experience: Stories of Resilience, Growth, and Empowerment

Please join us for the first part (12:00 to 1:50 PM) which will be an engaging panel discussion featuring women with lived experience whose journeys reflect the heart of PAN’s mission. Through stories of leadership, resilience, and personal growth, panelists will share the successes they have achieved, the challenges and barriers they have faced, and the supports that helped them overcome obstacles along the way. This conversation will celebrate the many forms leadership can take and highlight the strength, wisdom, and determination that emerge through lived experience. All are welcome to attend this part of the AGM and we hope to see you there!
Our panelists:
Grace Chabuka – Grace is a woman living with HIV for 32 years, a High School teacher, founder and president of HALLS Support Group, and a passionate activist and advocate who transforms her lived experience into community leadership, international HIV advocacy, and empowerment for people living with HIV.
Flo Ranville – Flo will speak about how stigma around HIV/HCV kept her isolated from support and resources for 10 years. After years of healing with Elders and through Indigenous ceremonies, Flo began a journey to volunteer, pursue peer employment, and become a community leader. Flo found that her lived experience has brought truth, mentoring, resilience, and the courage to know her Indigenous heritage.
Hadiza Umar – An immigrant woman and passionate community advocate, leader, and community researcher who is dedicated to advancing health equity, gender justice, and culturally safe, community-centered support for women, youth, and underserved communities.
Pam Young – A Lived Experience Leader and Advocate, Pam will draw on her own lived experience with mental health, substance use, STBBIs, homelessness, and incarceration to share how lived experience can become a source of leadership, connection, education, and meaningful systems change.

PAN MEMBER BUSINESS MEETING
The second part, from 2 – 3:30 PM, is our business meeting at which you can find out how PAN has responded to the challenges and opportunities over the last year, as well plans for the year ahead. This year we honour the 18 years of leadership from our retiring ED, Jennifer Evin Jones, and welcome Joanna Mendell and Jennifer Demchuk who will be stepping up and steering the ship under a shared leadership model. Other orders of business will be the voting for the Board of Directors, and approving membership applications. Members are expected to send a delegate (or two) to the business meeting and choose who will carry their vote, and confirm their membership renewal. Guests welcome.
