Oral Health Access Fund Stream 2: Call for proposals

Health Canada is pleased to announce the launch of the expression of interest process for the Oral Health Access Fund: Stream 2 – Oral health care access and prevention of oral diseases. Budget 2023 announced $250 million over three years, starting in April 2025 to establish the Oral Health Access Fund (OHAF), a new grants and contributions program. The program aims to expand access to oral health care by supporting projects that reduce or remove non-financial barriers to accessing oral health care for targeted populations.

OHAF funding will be provided through two streams:

Stream 1: Oral health education and training, for which applications opened to oral health training schools through a targeted call for proposals on May 13, 2024; and

Stream 2: Oral health care access and prevention of oral diseases, which will support projects that aim to improve prevention of oral diseases and access to person-centered oral health care. Funding priorities for this stream support projects that aim to improve:

connecting people to oral health care, such as access in rural, remote and underserved settings, and inclusive treatment spaces

oral health awareness (promotion and public education)

This expression of interest process is for Stream 2 and is open to not-for-profit organizations, for-profit organizations and other levels of government and their agencies (provinces, territories, Indigenous governing bodies, municipalities).

The deadline to submit an expression of interest for Stream 2 is July 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Applicants that are successful through the expression of interest process will be invited in Fall 2024 to submit a full application. More details and guidance to support the development of full proposals will be available then.

Additional information on OHAF, including instructions on how to apply and the expression of interest form that must be submitted to Health Canada, can be accessed by visiting Canada.ca/OHAF.
