All are invited to attend AVI’s Annual General Meeting.
Date: Wednesday November 28th
Time: 5:00-7:30 PM
Location: Ambrosia Centre, 638 Fisgard Street, Victoria
This year’s guest speaker will be Dr. Marilou Gagnon, RN, PhD, Associate Professor UVic School of Nursing.
Dr. Gagnon founded the Coalition of Nurses for Supervised Injection Services, served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (CANAC) (2009–2013) and was Expert Advisor Research, Policy and Advocacy for CANAC from 2013-2016. She also served on the Board of the Bureau Régional d’Action Sida (BRAS) in Gatineau (2012-2014) and joined the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network’s Board of Directors in 2013 for a first mandate and a second mandate in 2015. Dr Gagnon’s “work is underpinned by critical and sociopolitical approaches. Her program of research seeks to address gaps in knowledge that have the potential to inform public debate and policies, while also advancing the rights and the health of marginalized communities.”
The evening’s program will also include HIV and HCV Peers sharing their personal stories and hopes for tomorrow, an update on our Westshore Opioid Agonist Therapy Clinic, and strategies to embed the history and honour of AIDS Vancouver Island in all we do.
An appetizer buffet will served.
Please RSVP if you are able to join us.
