Job Posting: Urban Outreach Educator within the Yúusnewas program at YouthCO

YouthCO has a great opportunity for Indigenous youth at YouthCO within the Yúusnewas program. They are currently accepting applications for the Urban Outreach Educator position.

The Urban Outreach Educator will work alongside the Yúusnewas Program Manager using peer education approaches to lead workshops with youth about HIV, Hepatitis C, Sexual Wellbeing, harm reduction, and Decolonizing our Sexuality. The Yúusnewas team includes a Program Manager, a Rural Outreach Educator, and an Urban Outreach Educator.

With the support of the Program Manager, the Urban Outreach Educator will:

  • Facilitate workshops about HIV, Hepatitis C, harm reduction, Sexual Wellbeing, and Decolonizing our Sexuality to Indigenous youth in community-based organizations, youth groups, service providers, and local First Nations. On occasion, may facilitate workshops in non-indigenous settings, including local schools and drop-in spaces
  • Build relationships with community partners and members
  • Promote traditional healing and art as a way of taking care of ourselves
  • Lead outreach to Aboriginal youth in different settings including youth drop-ins, community centers, and
    community events
  • Perform relevant administrative tasks including booking workshops, liaising with volunteers, and completing program evaluation
  • Building the Yúusnewas volunteer team and help facilitate cultural nights
  • Participate in facilitating YouthCO’s Core Training, hosted three times per year
  • Support annual First Directions video making retreat and workshop, typically hosted in March
