Event Details/Contact: The LPRC and OPS invite you to go back in time and “Bring Out Your Inner Celebrity” at our Vintage Hollywood Gala. The night begins at 9pm with appetizers and a live DJ. Throughout the night there will be a selection of live entertainers and the opportunity to walk the red carpet and have your picture taken in an on site photo booth. At midnight we will gather to celebrate and support individuals living with HIV/AIDS and to remember friends and family that we have lost. Funds raised will go directly to the Emergency Relief Fund of the LPRC to benefit clients with financial need. Door prizes and prizes for best dressed will be awarded. Event Details/Contact: Please join ANKORS for our annual World AIDS Day Celebration in the basement at the Nelson United Church. This free event will provide an opportunity for community members to gather in memorial of friends and family lost to HIV/AIDS related illnesses, recognize and honour the strength and resilience of the HIV movement, and gather in action for a better future. The evening will feature musical entertainment by “Into the Blue” LVR jazz ensemble and a poetry reading by Jane Byers. A short taste of the film “United in Anger” will be screened. The remainder of the film will be screened as a series of episodes in the ANKORS Drop-in space on Tuesdays throughout December with discussions following. World AIDS Day provides an opportunity for community to gather to on the theme of, “It’s Not Over”, looking at the past, present and future of ANKORS and the HIV movement.
