Stigma Positive Action Workshop

Are you a person living with HIV interested in reducing the harms of stigma?

On January 30, 2025, PAN is offering a one-day workshop to help build awareness, knowledge, and skills surrounding reducing HIV stigma. We are looking for people who are:

  1. Living with HIV.
  2. Currently involved or have an interest in reducing the harms of HIV, hepatitis C, toxic drug supply, and other intersecting conditions (harm reduction).
  3. Currently involved or have an interest in delivering harm reduction to people living in small urban, rural and remote (SURR) areas.
  4. We believe that people with lived and living experience can, and do, effectively deliver harm reduction services to the communities they serve. And from what we understand, there is especially a need for HIV stigma to be addressed in small urban, rural and remote communities. Addressing stigma is a key step in the larger picture of HIV testing, treatment, and ongoing care.

The workshop will be interactive using mixed methods of information presentation, discussion, small group activities, and some fun quizzes to gauge your own learning. The workshop learning objectives are for participants to be able to:

  1. Identify different types of stigma.
  2. Communicate to other people about stigma.
  3. Understand stigma reduction practices.
  4. Access and navigate information resources related to HIV and stigma.
  5. Understand some basics of creating and hosting a stigma reduction workshop to pass along the awareness, knowledge, and skills.
