Call for Applications: The Warrior Society Committees

Via CAAN

CAAN is pleased to announce a call for applications to join The Warrior Society Committees, which operate under the guidance of the Visionary Director of Indigenous Practitioner (VDIP) and okimaw (CEO) of CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks. These committees are essential in addressing the challenges faced by Indigenous peoples and communities, particularly concerning HIV/AIDS, HCV, STBBIs, TB, mental health, aging, and related comorbidity factors.

About The Warrior Society:

Each member of The Warrior Society is an individual with lived experience of HIV/AIDS and/or hepatitis C, or an Indigenous Woman on a healing journey. They play a vital role in various aspects of HIV-related initiatives with CAAN. Members contribute their knowledge, experiences, and skills towards the choice, design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment, care, and support programs, as well as policy and research. Guided by the principles of the Greater Involvement of People living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) and Nothing About Us Without Us, these members take on leadership roles in HIV networks, fostering community, sharing experiences, amplifying voices, and raising awareness through advocacy efforts. They advocate for inclusion in research, access to crucial services, and resource mobilization for networks of Indigenous peoples with lived experience of HIV/AIDS and/or hepatitis C.

Qualifications:

To ensure balanced and effective representation within the committee, we are looking for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Living in Canada

  • Knowledge of current issues confronting Indigenous peoples living with HIV/AIDS or hepatitis C
  • Ability to represent the diversity and collective wisdom of Indigenous people living with HIV/AIDS or hepatitis C or as an Indigenous Woman on a healing journey.
