Over the past few months, the Canadian Coalition to Reform HIV Criminalization has continued to press for law reform and engaged with federal government stakeholders on this file, including the offices of the Ministers of Justice and Health. An open letter about the need to reform the law on HIV non-disclosure was sent at the end of June to the Minister of Justice David Lametti, the Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos, and to the Minister for Women and Gender Equality Marci Ien. CCRHC advocacy will persist in the coming months with the hope that these efforts will help result in the introduction of a bill that meets the various objectives laid out in the Coalition’s 2022 Community Consensus Statement, many of which are reiterated in the open letter.
