Job posting: Director of Programs, Bridges for Women


Bridges has been providing life-changing programs to women overcoming the effects of trauma and abuse since 1988. Bridges inspires women affected by trauma, violence or abuse to reclaim their lives and build financial security through our healing, education and employment programs. Our services are open to all women (transgender and cisgender), non-binary, and two-spirit people who identify as a part of the women’s community and who have been impacted by violence or trauma at any time in their lives.

Bridges for Women Society seeks a dynamic and people-oriented Director of Programs to support our vibrant pre-employment programs. The candidate will have the ability to manage staff, develop and direct funding agreements and program budgets, identify change requirements, and provide oversight for programming in the agency. The successful candidate embodies professionalism, collaboration, strong interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and superb people management skills.

The Director of Programs’ key responsibilities include:

  • Leading overall program planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation while setting program goals that are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction
  • Managing a diverse team of professionals, responsible for all areas of people management
  • Collaborating with the Bridges team and external funders on a variety of contract management initiatives and funding proposals
  • Developing and managing budgets including revenue forecasting and reporting
  • Contributing to the leadership team with operational management, strategic new initiatives and program planning
  • Engaging in community and stakeholder relationships that drive the organization’s strategic plan forward

 

The Right Fit

  • You believe in the potential of women, lifelong learning, and integrated leadership that balances emotional support with accountability.
  • Your strengths are in people management, program management, strategic thinking and working collaboratively to achieve common goals.
  • You have a degree in social work, counselling psychology, education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You also have certification and/or professional facilitation experience with trauma-informed practices.

Through our partnership with the North Island Employment Foundations Society, we also deliver online programs in the traditional territories of the Kwakwaka’wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and Coast Salish peoples.
