Add Your Name to Canadian Screening Guidelines Letter for Hepatitis B and C

Via Action Hepatitis Canada

Action Hepatitis Canada is inviting you to join us, along with CanHepC, the Canadian HBV Network, and the Canadian Liver Foundation, as a signee to this letter to the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (CTFPHC). We are requesting a re-evaluation of the CTFPHC’s 2017 hepatitis C screening guidelines and the creation of hepatitis B guidelines.

CTHPHC’s current HCV screening guidelines recommend risk-based screening only, contributing to the stigma surrounding HCV and to the low diagnosis rate in Canada. CTHPHC currently does not have screening guidelines for HBV, leaving healthcare practitioners to rely on a patchwork of inconsistent, often confusing, risk-based, provincial/territorial guidelines. Evidence-based screening guidelines are an important tool in engaging primary healthcare providers in the early diagnosis of viral hepatitis and the elimination of viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.
