Date: Thursday December 16, 2021
Time: 10 AM – 1:30 PM Pacific time
We are pleased to announce a West Coast learning and discussion virtual event with Cree Two-Spirit community organizer, researcher and educator Harlan Pruden. This two-part event will situate Two-Spirit people in Indigenous and colonial histories, and how we can work towards decolonizing Two-Spirit realities today.
We will open up the Zoom room at 9:55 so people can chat and connect. The first session starts at 10 AM Pacific time.
10 – 11:30 AM
The first session, Gender, Sexuality and Two-Spirit Lives, will use a Two-Spirit perspective to explore individual, sexual, social, and community interconnectedness.
Break – we will keep the event room open and welcome participants to chat with one another.
12 – 1:30 PM
The second session, Pivoting Two-Spirit Sexual Health Research to Action, will share data featuring Two-Spirit voices on sexual health, identities, and service uptake. Discussion will include approaches for optimizing your services to support Two-Spirit and Indigenous GBMSM in rural and urban settings.
Suggested Participants
All are welcome, and we suggest this might be of particular interest to:
- frontline workers
- program coordinators and managers
- knowledge translation staff and educators
- community allies and supporters
Presenter: Harlan Pruden

Harlan is the Managing Editor at Two-Spirit Journal and co-creator of the Two-Spirit Dry Lab, “Turtle Island’s first research group or lab that focuses exclusively on Two-Spirit people, communities, and experiences.” He is also the Indigenous Knowledge Translation Lead with Chee Mamuk, BC’s provincial Indigenous health program.
