Reaching the Undiagnosed; Lessons Learned from the Pandemic

Date: Thursday, November 25 2021

Time: 10-11 AM Pacific time

The Government of Canada launched a Five-Year Action Plan on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) in July 2019, following the establishment of Canada’s Framework for Action, Reducing the Health Impact of STBBI in Canada by 2030: A Pan-Canadian STBBI Framework for Action.

Coordinated work towards addressing key pillars in the Action Plan were well underway when the COVID19 pandemic began its impact in Canada in early 2020. Key principles of the Action Plan such as moving towards truth and reconciliation, cultural relevance, human rights and health equity were essential in providing support to Northern, Remote and Isolated (NRI) communities throughout Canada for pandemic response. The work done in conjunction with community leadership through development and implementation of community based testing (CBT) that is community-led and community-directed will set the foundation for future health services beyond COVID-19.
