Services are available at the clinic on 655 West 12 Avenue, Vancouver.
The Bute St Clinic, operated by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and co-located with QMUNITY in Vancouver’s West End has proudly served the 2SLGBTQ+ community for over 30 years.
Many of our BCCDC STI clinicians and staff have been working to support British Columbia’s COVID-19 response and as a result, the Bute St. Clinic has been closed since March 2020. After careful consideration, we have made the decision not to reopen the Bute St Clinic as it can no longer safely operate in its current location. We are working to find a new home for the Bute St clinic in the coming year and are excited for this next chapter.
The BCCDC team continues to be committed to responding to, and serving the needs of the LGBTQ2+ community. The BCCDC STI clinic located at 655 W 12th Ave in Vancouver (four blocks from the Canada Line Broadway Station), is offering expanded hours and welcomes people who previously attended the Bute St. clinic. The Bute St Clinic nurses are now supporting the BCCDC STI clinic, offering the same standard of care, including:
- queer friendly, culturally appropriate, person-centered care.
- easy to access no-cost services.
- services for those who are not registered with the BC Medical Services Plan or who wish to test anonymously or without ID.
The online STI testing service GetCheckedOnline is another free, easy to access service offered by the BCCDC, available in Vancouver and other communities in B.C. To register with GetCheckedOnline, you can request a code here https://getcheckedonline.com/Pages/Getting-a-code.aspx.
We look forward to working with our public health and community partners towards a new future for the Bute St. Clinic and continue to serve Metro Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQ+ community.
