Reporting to the Regional Manager, STOP HIV and Bloodborne Diseases (BBD), under the clinical direction of the Medical Health Officer (MHO), and in collaboration with the Overdose Response Manager and other key Island Health staff, the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator provides leadership across the designated geography of Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) in the education, planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of harm reduction services. As an integral member of the senior Communicable Disease team, the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator contributes to the professional and organizational vision as it pertains to both geography-specific and Island-wide harm reduction strategies and service delivery.
Education, Training and Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field such as Public Health, Health Promotion or Social Work and a minimum of five (5) years’ recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory experience in a complex, multi-union environment.

- Eligible for registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Experience working with marginalized populations and with community resources is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and government policies as related to harm reduction services.
