Job Posting: Peer Liaison (2 Positions Available)

 

Introduction:

The Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation provides compassionate HIV care for people living with health and social issues including mental illness, trauma, addictions, unstable housing and poverty.

Through its day health, 24-hour care residence and enhanced supportive housing programs, the Dr. Peter Centre provides healthy meals, counselling, therapies, nursing, and a safe place for peer socialization and support.

The Dr. Peter Centre has started an injectable opioid agonist treatment (iOAT).  We are looking for a Peer Liaison who can assist participants as they begin iOAT treatment.

 

This job involves:

  • Providing support and advice to Dr. Peter Centre participants who are starting iOAT
  • Sharing personal experiences with iOAT to assist others in adapting to the treatment
  • Connecting with new iOAT participants to form relationships and provide information about iOAT
  • Sharing resources or suggesting organizations that could assist participants in being successful on iOAT
  • Supporting effective connection between iOAT participants and service providers

 

 

We are looking for:

  • People who have experiences and identities in common with people who attend the Dr. Peter Centre
  • People who have experience receiving iOAT treatment
  • People with good boundaries and communication skills, who can build relationships with Dr. Peter Centre iOAT participants
  • The ideal candidate would have knowledge or experience of the different harm reduction resources that are available in Vancouver
  • Experience providing peer support is an asset
