Invitation to take part in a virtual roundtable discussion on the lived experience of HIV and HCV

Over the past 18 months, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has led the development of a Pan-Canadian Framework for Action to address sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) in Canada. The Framework, which is in the final stage of approval by federal, provincial and territorial governments, was developed with the input of a broad range of partners and stakeholders including people living with HIV and/or hepatitis C. The Framework sets out a roadmap for collaborative and complementary multi-sectoral action to reduce the impact of STBBI in Canada and to contribute to global efforts to end AIDS, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections as major public health concerns. The Government of Canada is developing an implementation plan that will outline concrete federal actions to be undertaken to implement the Pan-Canadian Framework for Action.

To support this work, PHAC is inviting people living with HIV or hepatitis C to participate in a series of virtual roundtable discussions to inform the federal implementation plan based on their experiences and perspectives. These roundtables are an example of the Government of Canada commitment to meaningfully engage people living with HIV and/or hepatitis C in the development and implementation of policies that affect them.

The virtual roundtables in English and in French (area of focus, dates and times are listed below) will be held using WebEx allowing participants to interact via a combination of an online platform and telephone line at a location of their convenience. Three roundtables were held on June 8, 11 and 12 with additional dates added to allow for greater participation.
