Job Posting: Executive Director at Positive Living North

Positive Living North is an Aboriginal, community-based organization providing care, support and advocacy for people living with, vulnerable to, and affected by HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C (HCV). Candidate Profile

Positive Living North (PLN) seeks a leader who can work within an Aboriginal service delivery framework and provide programming through an Aboriginal lens to all individuals who access our services. We seek a dynamic individual who can compassionately, comfortably and confidentially work in an environment that respects diversity, and has the ability to deal non-judgmentally with issues such as addiction, poverty, and the legacy of the colonization of Aboriginal people.

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • 5 years of senior management experience in health or social services sector
  • Ability to guide the long-term strategic direction of agency
  • Experience with proposal development, managing programs, and supervising personnel
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Must possess knowledge of HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C (HCV)
  • Ability to adapt to a challenging and changing environment
  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, problem solving, time management and crisis management skills
  • Practical knowledge of and proficiency in using modern office and online technologies
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is the senior representative of the agency promoting the agency’s activities through contact with the funders, community, other agencies, and community members.

Knowledge and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of financial management, contract negotiation and management, and personnel management. Overall quality assurance of service delivery and information management systems. Ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with contracted partners, community members and others.

Personnel Management
Ensures personnel policies are adhered to. Reviews all required documentation for employment (Criminal Record Checks, drivers abstract, etc.) Approves recruiting and hiring of staff. Approves salaries, ensures staff are adequately trained for their positions. Reviews and approves all personnel policies developed.

Contract Management
Responsible for all contract management for the Society. Ensures contract budgets are managed properly. Develops and approves all support services contracts. Controls budget, spending and payment authorities.

Financial Management
Prepares the budget, manages operational budget and expenditures of funds within the approved budget. Approves resource allocations and oversees financial management and audit.

Service Delivery
Ensures services and programs are delivered by the agency. Ensures the agency adheres to the standards of Positive Living North.
