Thursday January 10th – 1:00pm
Presenters: Melissa Medjuck & Marcie Summers
Have you ever wondered why women‐exclusive HIV services are needed? Have you considered what’s so different for women living with HIV in comparison to men living with HIV? Have you reflected on the close connection between HIV and violence against women; how violence can lead to HIV and HIV can lead to violence? This session will explore the intersections of violence against women and HIV through examining gender inequality, violence against women, stigma and layers of oppression. The session will discuss myths, advances, linkages and a coordinated response. This session is ideal for frontline workers and is best suited to an intermediate level.
