Universities Without Walls – BC Consultation November 30th, 2011

A message from Francisco Ibáñez-Carrasco PhD – Program Manager, Universities Without Walls (funded by a CIHR,Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research):

I am delighted to invite you to join us in an informal consultation to begin building the 2012 Universities Without Walls Spring Learning Institute in Victoria BC.

It will be held in the Training Room of the Positive Living Society on the afternoon of November, Wednesday 30, 2011 from 4 pm to 6 pm PST (Thanks Positive Living!). Alternatively, we can connect you via Skype.

Our goal for this consultation is to take the pulse of the region in the area of HIV research, to get your ideas of what activities are possible for the Fellows that can also be of benefit for the local communities involved in and affected by HIV research in BC.

The Spring Learning Institute (UWW SLI) is the culminating one-week intensive retreat for all Fellows from across Canada, many of who have been working closely with local organizations in their region. In 2010 we focus on the Prairies region and its issues related to HIV research when we went to Winnipeg; we went to the Atlantic region, to Halifax, in 2011. In 2012 we’re coming to the West Coast! It is likely that the UWW SLI will be held from Monday May 28 until Friday June 1, 2012.

During the UWW SLI, Fellows engage with academics, policy makers and communities working in HIV in a number of ways. Please See some examples in these short videos http://tinyurl.com/3urpxfr and http://tinyurl.com/3urpxfr

Please, mark this date in your calendar and if you can join us on November, Wednesday 30, 2011 from 4 pm to 6 pm PST let me know at [email protected]

Many thanks for your support to Universities Without Walls.
