Introducing PAN’s new Program Coordinator – Heidi Standeven

Hello! As I write this, the sun is shining and I hope that everyone is going to get a chance to enjoy our beautiful Spring weather!   I am very excited to be a part of the PAN team, and looking forward to the work I will do through my role as Program Coordinator.  Here is a little bit of information to help you get to know me:

I grew up and spent most of my life in Northern BC, a few years of that in the actual north in the smaller community of Fort Nelson, before I settled down in Vancouver a few years ago.  My background is in Social Science – I have a BA in Anthropology and a MA in Anthropology and Political Science.   My background is in research primarily, but I have also been involved in policy development, front-line work, and community advocacy.   I started getting involved in working in the HIV/AIDS field in 2004 in Prince George and I continued to work in HIV, albeit indirectly through pregnancy outreach and education, when I moved up north. I took a brief hiatus from community work when I was a faculty member at Northern Lights College.   I was very happy to become a part of the movement again in 2009, taking a position at Red Road HIV/AIDS Network and Renewing Our Response.

My heart has always been in community work.  For those I have not yet met, I am looking forward to meeting you!  For those I have, I look forward to getting to know you better.  I know that we will all continue to do wonderful work together!
