You are invited to join us Wednesday, June 17th from 9:00 to 10:30 AM PT for our second webinar in the Grief Handiwork series. This seasonal reflection offers another opportunity for connection on the grief we carry in our personal and community lives. Guided by Francis Whiskeyjack’s Medicine Wheel, the Summer opens in the direction of the South – a time of nurturing growth.
Hope and hopelessness was a topic that emerged in our Spring gathering, and for the Summer session we are diving deeper into this; exploring hope, fire, and sanctuary. This session will offer a space for engagement, connection, and reflection of the changing season around us, explore theory and examples of a hope rooted in both rage and love, and finally how this fire can be a sanctuary.
Critical Hope
There is a need to recognize struggle, grief, and pain as a shared human experience. Engaging one another with acceptance, kindness and patience when experiencing life challenges encourages an awareness of our shared humanity. Actions toward caring and loving futures that is rooted in strong emotions such as grief and anger is a concept that is sometimes referred to as a critical hope.
The power our emotions carry is potent, and while they can lead to pessimism or hopelessness, they can also be a vital navigational bearing that anchors our purpose and makes getting from day to day meaningful, even when the odds feel stacked against us.
As a reminder:
Participants are encouraged to attend all four gatherings to chart their experience across the year, though each session may also stand alone.
